For many patients, aquatic therapy often can be extremely helpful. By exercising in the therapeutic pool, participants are often able to control body movements in ways that are not possible on land. Our 18 x 24-foot pool is heated between 92 and 96 degrees and is specially designed for therapy programs. With a flat floor divided into depths of 3, 4 and 5 feet, patients of varying heights can exercise comfortably. The pool also has a hydraulic lift to provide easy access to individuals of all abilities.
Aquatic therapy and exercise can reduce pain and discomfort while increasing physical function. In addition, warm water immersion can:
- Support body weight and lessen the effects of gravity
- Provide buoyancy and reduce weight-bearing stress on joints
- Promote deep breathing
- Promote cardiovascular and muscular endurance
- Increase circulation, flexibility & balance
- Promote healing
- Encourage relaxation
To meet your particular goals, your treatment plan may combine aquatic therapy with more traditional therapies.
